Unlock Your Skin's Potential: A Guide to LaseMD Laser Resurfacing

Updated: Oct 8

If you're looking to rejuvenate your skin with minimal downtime, our Lutronic LaseMD laser resurfacing treatment is the perfect solution. This cutting-edge treatment is known for its ability to improve skin texture, tone, and overall appearance, all without the need for invasive surgery. Let's dive into what LaseMD is, how it works, and why it might be a game-changer for your skincare routine.

What is LaseMD?

LaseMD is a non-ablative fractional laser treatment that is designed to renew and rebuild the skin by targeting multiple layers. It rejuvenates pigmented skin, smooths fine lines and wrinkles, clears bacteria in active acne, reduces the appearance of acne scarring, and effectively treats UV damage and brown spots for a more even, refreshed complexion. Unlike more aggressive laser treatments, LaseMD focuses on gently resurfacing the skin with minimal discomfort and downtime. It is ideal for those looking for noticeable improvements without interrupting their busy schedules.

How Does LaseMD Work?

Our LaseMD gently heats the deeper layers of the skin while keeping the surface layer intact. Instead of targeting surface pigment, it creates microchannels in the skin through targeting water molecules beneath the surface. These microscopic injuries stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin, encouraging new, healthy skin to grow. With LaseMD, you can enhance your skin's health and quality at a cellular level without damaging normal skin.

Many may assume receiving laser treatments are limited to the cooler months of the year, which can be true for those that receive treatments from traditional lasers. Traditional lasers target pigmentation on the surface of the skin, which raises concerns about increased sun exposure. When your skin tans, these lasers may inadvertently target the darker pigment, which can lead to unwanted discoloration after a laser treatment. This is why most people opt for traditional laser treatments during the fall or winter months, when there is less time spent getting sun exposure.

Our LaseMD, however, provides a solution for those looking to receive laser treatments without worrying about recent sun exposure. Since LaseMD targets water molecules below the skin's surface, it can treat any skin type year-round. LaseMD also assists in eliminating pre-cancerous skin cells formed from UV damage, allowing it to be an effective preventative measure.

Benefits of LaseMD & Proper Aftercare

One of the major benefits of LaseMD is that it requires little to no downtime. You can often resume your normal activities the same day, making it a convenient option for busy lifestyles.

After a LaseMD treatment, your skin will appear as if you received a slight sunburn. We combat this redness by massaging Alastin's Hyaluronic Acid IMMERSE Serum and Medik8's H.E.O. Balm into your skin directly after a treatment. Due to the microchannels created with the laser, these products immediately absorb into the skin, allowing their benefits to begin immediately. The redness gradually subsides throughout the rest of the day, and we always send you home with a complimentary portion of Medik8's H.E.O. Balm to apply as needed as you continue to heal.

With proper aftercare and sun protection, the results of LaseMD can last for months. Following a LaseMD treatment, we recommend that any time spent outside be done after thoroughly applying sunscreen, and that sun exposure is limited for about one to two weeks to allow the treatment and applied serums to take full effect without interference. We also recommend that no retinols or abrasive materials like loofahs be used on the treated areas for at least one week, as these can damage the skin barrier during the healing process. Lastly, treated areas may experience small, textured bumps over the course of a week. These bumps are old, damaged skin that is brought to the surface so that it can naturally slough off, revealing new, younger skin. We recommend avoiding scratching or picking at these bumps, as this can also damage the skin barrier. Allowing this texture to heal on its own ensures that the new skin underneath stays healthy and lasts longer. Luckily, these textured bumps are barely noticeable to the naked eye, and quickly slough off.

Regular treatments can help maintain and even enhance your results over time. Following LaseMD, your skin is more receptive to topical treatments, so serums and creams can penetrate deeper for enhanced effectiveness. LaseMD is also a great preventative measure to maintain youthful skin as it boosts collagen and elastin, and accelerates skin cell regeneration.

Start Your LaseMD Journey Today

At Brighton Aesthetics, we help you on your path to healthier and more youthful skin every step of the way.

You begin your journey with a consultation at our private, one-room spa. We perform a brief scan of your skin with our VISIA facial analysis program, which allows us to see your skin's current health beneath the surface. Afterwards, we listen to any questions and concerns you may have about your skin and what is to expect during treatment.

On the day of your LaseMD session, we go over how we have personalized your treatment to address your specific concerns. After numbing your skin with our topical numbing agent for about 30 minutes, we proceed with the 20- to 30-minute LaseMD session. Before you leave, we send you home with aftercare information as well as a complimentary portion of our Medik8 H.E.O. Balm to apply over the next few days.

The following day, the provider that performed your LaseMD treatment will follow-up with you to ensure you are healing properly and address any questions. We encourage you to reach out to your provider at any time should more questions arise as you continue to heal.
